Officials advise staying out of Hanalei Bay following shark sighting
KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) – Kauai ocean safety officials are advising people to stay out of the water at Hanalei Bay following a shark sighting.

Officials said an 8-foot shark was spotted shortly before noon fronting the Pavilion Tower.
No injuries were reported.
As a precaution, warning signs have been posted and ocean safety officials will continue monitoring the area.

Lifeguards are expected to reassess conditions Tuesday morning. If there are no additional sightings, the beach will reopen to swimming and other ocean activities on Sept. 1.
