Hawaii public libraries reopen in Naalehu, Pahala after Hurricane Lala

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Two Hawai‘i Island public libraries are back in full service following closures caused by Hurricane Lala.

Nā‘ālehu Public Library and Pāhala Public and School Library reopened Monday with limited services and manual checkout.

Now, with electricity and network connectivity, both branches have resumed full services.

“Libraries are community spaces in good times and bad,” said State Librarian Stacey Aldrich. “In moments like these, we want our neighbors to know that we are here – a safe and welcoming place to connect, access information and resources, recharge, and find support as our communities begin to recover.”
