First Alert Forecast: Two tropical cyclones strengthen as they head our way

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Lowell and Karina are churning in the Pacific Ocean and headed our way. The 5am fix had Lowell a thousand miles ESE of Hilo and Karina 880 miles off the tip of Baja. The forecast tracks from the National Hurricane Center has Lowell passing the islands next weekend well to the south. But not so far away that we won’t have some impacts… likely surf, stronger winds, and perhaps some heavy showers.

Meanwhile, the weather today and for the coming work week should be lovely. The trades will be breezy, passing showers will keep things green and growing, and surf will be fun-sized along south shores. A new south swell is expected Tuesday and will peak Wednesday just below advisory-levels.
