Young’s Fish Market in Honolulu celebrates 75 years with Las Vegas trip giveaway

To thank the community for decades of support, the restaurant is partnering with Vacations Hawaii for a major anniversary giveaway.
Andrea Young, who represents the third generation of the family business, said surviving for three-quarters of a century has required constant evolution.
“We just try and change with the times,” Young said. “We do what we can to adjust.”
From Liliha Street to local institution
The popular market was originally started on Liliha Street by Young’s grandparents. The location was chosen because it was just three blocks away from their family home.
“My grandpa loved fishing,” Young said. “He kind of dragged my grandma into it. And they just did it together and had all the kids working.”
The labor of love was eventually passed down to Young’s father and aunt, and it is now run by Young and her brother.

Over the decades, the siblings have modernized operations by introducing bentos, offering smaller portion sizes, expanding into catering, and providing mainland shipping options for distant customers.
The market has also maintained a strong commitment to community service. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the staff prepared and served meals for local healthcare workers on the front lines.
Win a trip to Las Vegas
To celebrate the 75-year milestone, Young’s Fish Market and Vacations Hawaii are giving away a complete Las Vegas trip package for two.
The promotional prize includes round-trip airfare on Hawaiian Airlines, a four-night stay at the California Hotel, three daily meals, and two tickets to the Los Angeles Rams versus Arizona Cardinals football game on Oct. 18.
Vacations Hawaii sales and promotional manager Kevin Kaneshiro said, “It’s really important to support these mom-and-pop places that, unfortunately, we’re seeing people close their doors every year.”
Customers can enter the giveaway in person by visiting the restaurant. The final winner will be drawn and announced on Sept. 14.
