The National Weather Service in Honolulu says the advisory will be in effect for the entire islands of Molokai, Lanai and Kahoolawe and portions of Maui and Hawaii.
Northeast winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts near 50 miles per hour are expected, especially in downslope areas, mountain ridges and valleys.
The winds will be strong enough to tear off roof shingles, knock down tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it difficult to steer vehicles, especially for higher-profile vehicles like trucks and SUV’s.
