Firefighters respond to reports of smoke in Wainiha

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Kauai Fire Department is responding to reports of smoke in the Wainiha area Saturday.

The fire was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. near Ananalu and Anahulu roads. A brush fire was previously reported in the same area on Thursday and had burned about 100 acres.

KFD said crews arrived on scene and found multiple smoldering hot spots in the area. There are no active flames

Fire crews from the Hanalei fire station are working to extinguish the remaining hot spots and will remain on scene.

The department said the smoldering hot spots are related to Thursday’s fire.

No injuries or damage to nearby buildings were reported. No roads have been closed.
