Firefighters extinguish Wailuku house fire, 1 displaced
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A house fire in Wailuku displaced one person Thursday night.
Maui fire crews responded to the 1000 block of Alakai Street around 10:21 p.m. Thursday and found a single-story home fully engulfed in flames.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and protect nearby homes.
The fire was brought under control at 11:01 p.m. and fully extinguished around 1:30 a.m.

One occupant was displaced. No injuries were reported.
Officials said the home was under renovation and sustained an estimated $150,000 in structural damage. The value of damage to the contents was not immediately known.
The cause remains undetermined, but investigators believe the fire started in the kitchen area.
