Pearl City Senior League champions reflect on victorious title run
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The boys from Pearl City Little League have enjoyed the summer of a lifetime with a victorious world championship run at the Senior League Baseball World Series in South Carolina.

After losing their opening game, they went undefeated the rest of the way with five straight wins, three of which were shutout victories.
“I believed that we could do it from the very beginning, but I guess, when you reach toward the end like U.S. championship or when you make it to the World Series game, that’s when you really know something special is going on,” said head coach Ty Takahashi. “From the beginning, I really believed in these boys.”
Confidence and poise that comes with unshakeable team chemistry.
Most of the boys are also teammates at Pearl City High and have been playing alongside each other for years.
Three seasons ago, they suffered a crushing loss in the Intermediate World Series, heartbreak that helped fuel this year’s journey.
“It motivated us a lot, honestly,” said pitcher and infielder Tytan Takahashi. “It was in the back of my head the whole way. Once we got to that U.S. Championship, once we scored that first one I was like we’re not losing this and I was really motivated to win that.”
With their mission accomplished, the champions received a fitting celebratory welcome upon returning home Sunday afternoon, and later this month, they’ll be the stars of a grand parade through the Pearl City community.
“It feels good to bring it back to there,” said pitcher and outfielder Boston Schwager. “They’re supporting you a lot throughout the whole run. It means a lot to finally bring something back to them.”
