Former Tripler gynecologist pleads not guilty to sexual assault

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The former Tripler doctor accused of sexually abusing his gynecology patients in Hawaii and Texas has pleaded not guilty in a military arraignment at Fort Hood.

Maj. Blaine McGraw faces nine charges involving more than 90 alleged victims, including at least seven of his patients at Tripler Army Medical Center on Oahu.

Much of Wednesday’s hearing focused on whether military judge Col. Jorge Rivera had been exposed to information about the case before being assigned.

Judge Rivera said he recalled some local news coverage but didn’t remember specific details and avoided learning more once he knew he could oversee the case.

McGraw had been under investigation since October 2025, when a patient at Fort Hood complained to officials.

He’s accused of secretly recording patients during medical exams. McGraw worked as an intern and resident at Tripler from 2019 to 2023.

McGraw’s defense team and the prosecution are expected to address trial procedures and scheduling in the coming weeks. He remains in pretrial confinement in Texas.
