EMS responds to possible carbon monoxide exposure in Waipio

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu firefighters and EMS responded to reports of a carbon monoxide incident in Waipio around 11 a.m., on Tuesday.

First responders were dispatched to the scene at the Starbucks in Laniakea Plaza on Ka Uka Boulevard.

“This morning our carbon monoxide alarm was going off, and some of my coworkers were experiencing symptoms,” said a Starbucks employee who witnessed the incident. “So, we had to call 911 and shut the store down so they could come check it out and make sure we’re all okay.”

Medics evaluated two patients for possible carbon monoxide exposure.

A 32-year-old woman reportedly experienced headache symptoms but refused transport to the hospital.

A 28-year-old woman was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby emergency room for further treatment in stable condition.
