Police search for driver who struck construction worker on H-1 freeway, fled scene

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – On Wednesday, a serious crash involving a pedestrian occurred on the H1 East Freeway in the Pearl City area.

It was reported to the Honolulu Police Department at about 8:15 p.m. that an unidentified motorist was traveling eastbound on the H1 freeway when the motorist traveled to the right of the roadway and struck a 25-year-old man, a pedestrian who was working within a coned-off construction area.

The unidentified driver continued traveling eastbound on the H1 freeway without stopping to render aid or provide information.

As a result of the collision, the 25-year-old pedestrian was transported via Emergency Medical Services to the hospital in serious condition.

At this time, it is unknown if speed, drugs, or alcohol are contributing factors to the collision.
