2 arrested after Honolulu police shut down alleged gambling operation

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Honolulu police arrested two suspects and seized multiple gaming machines, cash, and drugs from an alleged illegal gambling establishment Wednesday.

Around 4:30 p.m., several units from the Honolulu Police Department executed a search warrant at an address on Kalauokalani Way.

HPD’s Narcotics/Vice Division Gambling Detail, District 1 Crime Reduction Unit, District 1 Bike Detail, Airport Operations Group, Forfeiture Detail, and Specialized Services Division worked together on the case.

In total, they recovered 11 gaming machines, more than $3,500 in cash, and illegal narcotics.

A 64-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of promoting gambling and possession of a gambling device.

“These continued takedown operations are only one part of our overall strategy,” said Maj. Jerome Pacarro, from HPD’s Narcotics/Vice Division. “The intelligence gathered during each operation helps advance long-term investigations targeting those who organize and profit from illegal gambling.”
