Bishop Michael Thomas Tupou Castori ordained, installed to lead Honolulu diocese

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Roman Catholic Church in Hawaii officially welcomed a new bishop Tuesday.

Father Michael Thomas Tupou Castori, SJ, was ordained and installed as bishop of the Diocese of Honolulu during a ceremony at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa in Honolulu’s Kalihi-Palama neighborhood.

He is now Bishop Michael Thomas Tupou Castori, SJ, the diocese’s sixth bishop.

Former diocesan leader Bishop Larry Silva, who has served for 21 years, is now Bishop Emeritus Larry Silva. He reached the mandatory retirement age of 75 for bishops last year.
