First Alert Forecast: Scattered showers expected Wednesday morning

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Happy Wednesday! Moisture continues to ride in along the trade winds Wednesday morning, bringing an increased chance for showers. Most of the moisture, as usual, will be focused in the mountains and over windward areas. Expect slightly drier conditions heading into the afternoon.

Isolated rainfall over windward regions and breezy trade winds will be the prevailing pattern into this weekend.

We’re also tracking Hurricane Fausto in the Eastern Pacific Ocean very closely. Hurricane Fausto is expected to strengthen into a Category 2 Hurricane, and then weaken as it travels into the Central Pacific.

As mentioned yesterday, there is still a wealth of uncertainty when it comes to the track of Fausto. However, models are starting to show that the storm will likely track north or near the islands during next week.

The northward track will lead to weaker trade winds and increased surf on east-facing shores. As always, we will update you as new data comes in.

The next south swell will start filling in today, leading to advisory-level surf on south-facing shores throughout Thursday and Friday.
