5 injured after tree falls onto vehicle on Hana Highway
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A falling tree struck a vehicle along Hana Highway Tuesday afternoon, injuring all five occupants, according to the Maui Fire Department.

MFD said crews were dispatched at 2:33 p.m. to an area near mile marker 9 after a report that a tree had fallen onto a passing vehicle.

One person suffered a head injury and was airlifted to Maui Memorial Medical Center while four others were transported by ground ambulance with minor injuries.

All five were visitors, the department said.
The tree was removed and the road reopened shortly after 4:30 p.m.
