We’re heading into a beautiful summer weekend with classic trade wind weather across the islands. Expect locally breezy trade winds with passing showers mainly over our windward and mauka communities, especially overnight and during the early morning hours. Most leeward areas will enjoy plenty of sunshine, making it a great weekend to get outside.
If you’re looking for something to do, the Prince Lot Hula Festival continues this weekend, and you’ll also find Bon Dances and farmers markets happening across the islands—perfect weather to enjoy all that Hawaiʻi has to offer.
Surf Update: South shore surf begins building Sunday, with even larger waves expected Monday into Tuesday that could reach High Surf Advisory levels. East shores will remain choppy through Saturday before gradually settling down.

In the tropics: There’s no threat to Hawaiʻi at this time. We’ll continue watching Tropical Storm Elida in the eastern Pacific, which could send a small boost of surf to east-facing shores by the middle of next week. As always, we’ll keep you updated if anything changes. There are more storms lining up in the eastern pacific, initial model runs aren’t showing a threat but will keep an eye on them from start to finish.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend, and mahalo for making us part of your day!
