Two water emergencies send elderly diver, surfer to hospital
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A scuba diver and surfer, both elderly, were hospitalized Sunday after separate water emergencies in Honolulu.

At about 8:25 a.m., a 73-year-old scuba diver was found unresponsive in the ocean and pulled onto a dive boat offshore of Kewalo Basin.
The Honolulu Ocean Safety Department boarded the vessel and provided the woman with emergency care. Lifeguards also initiated CPR while the vessel traveled back towards shore.
When the boat arrived at the Kewalo Basin fuel dock, patient care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services. Paramedics treated and transported the woman to the hospital in critical condition.

In a second incident, EMS responded to a 75-year-old surfer who went unresponsive and was brought to shore by a boat.
The incident occurred at about 10:25 a.m. in East Oahu on Keahole Street. Paramedics provided advanced life support and took the man to the emergency room.
