A family from ʻEwa Beach is flying to Houston to watch in person.

Chakib Benachour is taking his daughter, Yasmina, to cheer on the Moroccan National Team as they face Canada.

“I’m really looking forward to this. I love my dad, we do just about everything together. We go to the gym every single day and it’s really I think a blessing that we’re able to do this together and an experience that I’m never going to forget,” said Yasmina.

Chakib is originally from Morocco, and has lived in Hawaii for over two decades.

“We’re gonna represent the 808 state and bring the Aloha spirit,” said Chakib.

The trip all started when Yasmina said, “Papa, do you want to do something crazy?”

Chakib looks forward to cheering loudly with other fans from his home country.

“It was like a military operation, like we tag team,” he said. “She take care of the tickets and the plane, and I take care of the lodging and all the other, and we did that not even in two hours.”
