Maui firefighters respond to fully engulfed home
PAIA (HawaiiNewsNow) – Maui firefighters responded to a house fire in Paia Saturday evening.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the Maui Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a single-story, single-family dwelling on Pili Loko Street.
Upon arrival, the residence was fully engulfed in flames, according to initial reports from MFD.
Firefighters used extended hose lines to extinguish the blaze and protect neighboring homes.

Crews had the fire under control by 8:45 p.m., fully extinguished by 10 p.m., and cleared the scene around midnight.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire, according to MFD. The occupants are currently believed to be off of the island.
No injuries were reported.
The fire caused an estimated $300,000 worth of damage to the structure and an unknown amount for the contents.

The cause of fire is undetermined at this time.
