Royal Kona Coffee Center closed, employee layoffs
HAWAII ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) – Damage from a 6.0 magnitude earthquake in May has prompted the indefinite closure and layoff of staff from the Royal Kona Coffee Company Center.

The company said it is laying off four employees from the Captain Cook location because of substantial damage to its facility.
Employee separations were effective as of June 8. The company said it will cooperate with the state’s Rapid Response and Dislocated Worker programs.

The business is still operating, but needs to close its in-person visitor center, where it conducted tours.
