Teen driver killed in Pali Highway crash identified
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Honolulu medical examiner has identified the 16-year-old driver who died Thursday morning after losing control on Pali Highway as Kalena Abelmann.

Police said Abelmann was speeding when she hit a concrete barrier, went airborne, dropped about 50 feet and was thrown from her vehicle into the ravine below.
Abelmann was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said she was not wearing a seat belt.

A GoFundMe set up to support Abelmann’s family described her as “a courageous, strong, creative, and adventurous soul” and said donations will go toward funeral and memorial expenses.
