Suspect charged with attempted murder in Hopaka St. shooting

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man accused of attempted murder in the Hopaka Street shooting has been charged.

Honolulu police said TJ Tatashy was charged Monday evening with second-degree attempted murder and firearms offenses.

Bail was set at $300,000.

The charges stem from a shooting that occurred around 3:45 a.m. June 14, when officers responded to reports of a large fight involving numerous people at a business on Hopaka Street.

Investigators said gunshots were fired during the disturbance, and additional shots were reportedly heard as patrons fled the area. Two men, ages 23 and 24, suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police previously said detectives identified Tatashy as a suspect and arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder and firearms offenses.
