‘Bodies in Motion’ fitness icon dies at 71

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Legendary fitness trainer Gilad Janklowicz has died at age 71.

The Israeli-born instructor ran his Hawaii-based program “Bodies in Motion” for 42-years and filmed around 600 episodes in the islands setting a record for the longest-running fitness series in the U.S.

Hawaii News Now spoke with former cast members and friends.

Former cast member Kent Roller said, “Gil was special to me because he was so committed to what he was doing. He had the greatest discipline when it came to exercise, came to being a boss, and the cast members on the show.”

A childhood friend of Janklowicz said, “He was the original. So he made a huge impact on a lot of people and their exercise and health routines to his last day, you know?”

In his 70s, he was still active online and teaching classes here on Oahu.

Israeli media is reporting that he was about to launch a new show in Israel.

A post on his official Instagram said his passing was sudden, but did not say where or what caused it.
